Weekenders

Last weekend we went on a little trip to St George. I was real scared because Hudson doesn't particularly like his car seat, but he did pretty well and only cried a few times in the car. We really didn't do much there besides see mike run the marathon and then watch conference but it was still nice to be down there. We stayed with the Schillers, which are actually Mikey's sister's in-laws. It's really nice though because over the years they have become like family to us too. They are the best. Hudson liked conference too! He's started to watch tv if it's on. He gets bored after a few minutes but it keeps his interest for a little while. Here are some random pictures from the weekend!

This weekend was general conference. Did you know???

I know there are always a lot of posts on Facebook, Instagram, and blogs about conference and some may find it annoying or redundant. But I think it's really great. I read a comment on fb once that said something like ''this isn't your journal so write your thoughts about conference elsewhere.'' I was kind of really sad about that.
It's soooo important to share your thoughts and those little feelings of pure joy that you feel like you just have to get out. At one point in my life I was at the receiving side of those comments. And not knowing quite what they meant or why everyone was so happy about church or the things they learned there made me curious. And from there I was introduced to the gospel. The gospel led me to a happiness that I didn't know I was missing. And that brought me to my really super great husband which brought me this little baby that I adore. I can't even express in words how blessed I feel to have the truth of the gospel in my life. I hope I can live in a way that is deserving of this huge blessing. To all those friends that spoke out and were good examples to me I will always so grateful. I hope we can all share things that really inspire us with our families and friends and to the world so that the people who are ready to find the gospel can.

That being said...
I really loved conference. I always really love it, but each time I hear different things that I think are really for me. This time I really heard the message repeated by our leaders and the spirit seemed to whisper, ''you are doing okay but you need to do better.'' It seems like sometimes life gets the best of me and I don't do as much service, scripture study, and other things as I could. I also got excited about doing my own family history work. I got a small start about a year ago but haven't done anything since, so I'm excited to get that ball rolling again. For me, conference brought a lot of renewed commitment and I felt the spirit so many times testifying of the truthfulness of the gospel and its principles.
How lucky are we to receive instructions from such inspired men?
I'd say we are pretty darn lucky.

Rebellion

Do you ever just wake up in the morning and want to eat cookies instead of real breakfast?
And also just sit on the couch in a blanket as your baby plays (for the very limited time this will last) instead of doing something productive?
That's about how today is going. And I've done both of those.
And we still have about 11 hours until dad comes home.
Someone please entertain me.
And take the cookies away.

For the Love

This Saturday we were re-living our high school days over at our house.
My little brother, Todd, went to his last homecoming dance. I thought it would be so fun to do his dinner at our house. So I roped Mike into helping me put it together and we put on our production this weekend.

And of course I didn't get any pictures until after the kids left... it was just too crazy before they got there to snap any.

Mike did snag a few when just a couple kids had gotten there.

There were such cute kids that came, and it was fun to put together. Although it was a whole lot of work and I'm pretty sure little Hudson felt pretty neglected all day. Poor little man. We had to snuggle him extra on Sunday to make up for it. I think he's starting to forgive us though. :)

Sunday musings

Today is Sunday.
I really like Sunday.
And today I am grateful.
Grateful to be a member of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
And grateful that I am able to feel the spirit in our meetings. And as scary as it is when it's my turn, I think it's just the coolest that in our church, we all get to participate. We all give talks, prayers, we all teach... and in the process of all this we all get to learn. I'm also really grateful that the Church is so organized and especially that everything is so clear. We are blessed with soooo many answers to so many questions. Not all of them, because we still have to exercise faith. But we know a lot.
And that's pretty darn cool.
And last but not least I'm so very much grateful for Sunday naps!

My little man is over two months now! It's so fun to see him grow and change but it sure is hard to let the newborn stages go.

Hudson has been such a joy to us. We really super like him. Here's a little update on his life as of now:

-feeding time can be a little chaotic lately. You see huds likes to play this new game called yank your head back and forth and swing your arms up to moms face and grab! It's really fun. For him. Its actually pretty funny so i just laugh most of the time and try and hold his head still while securing his arm away from my face. But holy moly sometimes it hurts.
-also when feeding he always lets me know when he's not done when I try and burp him by squealing an panting until I put him back.
- we've still got a grunter on our hands. He's starting to make a lot of other sounds too though which is fun. He loooooves to coo. If I sit and talk to him he will pretty much go back and forth with me. I really love that.
- he smiles more everyday! I love that toothless grin more than words can say.
- Hudson doesn't particularly enjoy naps. And by that I mean he won't usually take them. That is unless someone is willing to hold him then he is game. And usually at some point in the day he'll take a couple little snoozers. I'm hoping when he gets a little older we can figure that one out. For now we kind of Just roll with it.
- baby boy sleeps about the same every night without too much variation. We're on a 10-4 and 4:30-8 type schedule. And if I put him to bed early it just shifts forward according to the time I put him down. I can't complain too much about that.
- speaking of bed time.... Huds won't sleep anywhere but his bouncer. Problem? Maybe. But I'm a sucker for sleep so we allow it. Dr thinks he might have a little reflux and is uncomfortable laying flat.
- he doesn't really like to just ''hang out.'' If I sit him on the couch next to me he'll last maybe 30 seconds and then get fussy until I walk around with him or take him outside. This is the same case with laying him on the bed or in his bouncer when he's awake or even in the swing. BUT he does like the lay down gym thingy. That usually buys me 10-15 minutes before he gets sick of it. He loves that thing. This makes me kind of scared of how busy and active he might be when he gets bigger. But hey it keeps me from sitting around all day that's for sure!

Being a mom is such a fun experience and makes life so much more meaningful! I love my little sweetie!
