So this kinda cool thing happened to us over the weekend. 

We found this new GREAT spot. 

It's actually a consignment store in Ogden. And it's super great. And guess whose stuff is going to be featured there? 

Ours!

Kinda fun huh? We have a few things there now and we're actually going to start painting some furniture for the store as well. They like the paint and we like free furniture to fix up so it's a perfect match. :)

I forgot to take some pictures of the building but I thought this bench was stinking cute!

I'm making a goal right now to be better about updating this blog with furniture. I have been kind of slacking because it was the only thing I ever posted about. But I'm finding a balance and I'll be better at updating. :)

Stuff we do lately

Well in celebration of Bosses Day, or Bosses week, or whatever it is....

Thank you to my bosses. They are great.
(of course they will never read this since they are definitely not the blogging type)

We told them thank you with a waffle breakfast this morning. That was fun. We love them and how fun they make work. Even though one of them, we will call him the trickster for security reasons, likes to cut my straw off of our maverick cups every time we get a drink.

It's really sad.

(not to mention hard to drink) But no worries, we put a stash in my purse this morning on our maverick visit so we will have plenty of straws when this happens again. Because I'm sure it will.

But that's the kind of environment that they make, and it makes work a lot more enjoyable. 

While I was taking a picture of my sad straw, my attention turned to the awful messy state of my desk, so I decided to document that too. My office actually needs a makeover so maybe I'll get around to that soon. ha maybe not though..we'll see. :) For now, I'm going to try and be a bit more organized. Because that is really a mess.

I love my workplace. 

I also love our home. It's been so fun to try and come up with new ideas for rooms and trying to make it look nice and be functional. Pinterest has been a big help because then I can copy everyone's good ideas. I like that. 

So here's our best attempt at a workspace/office area for the room right off the entry. It's not quite decorated or finished, but here's what we've got so far. Oh and I didn't take many angles on the pictures so I'll post some more when it's done.

So this is before, I put a little collage on the wall, but that got old fast, so we got rid of that. Poor mike, he spent a lot of time handing those frames. 

We bought a bunch of bookshelves and a desk space...

And Mike is a champion and assembled them all in a few hours.

This is sort of during the process.

I also wanted to change up the doors a little bit, so we did some stripes with frost. 

Here are the stripes once I was done. I still have to do the other door. haha I'm just trying out the one for now.

And here's the best picture I had of the finished product. As you can see, there isn't much on some of the shelves so we are still working on that. And we also have to figure out a way to hide the lamp cords.

So there it is. 

Oh and we still have to bring down the computer once we get the internet figured out. I'll get a picture of that when we get it all set up. :) It was kind of a fun project to do a whole room makeover. Or I guess make-since we hadn't done anything with it. 

Well, now we are off to run the Vegas Ragnar this weekend. Hopefully that will be fun! I will let you all know. :)

P.S. There's this cute girl whose blog I stumbled across once that always writes a "PS I'm grateful for...." after her blog posts and I totally am going to copy her because I think it's such a good idea. And sometimes I can definitely count my blessings a little more and be a little more grateful. SO...

Today I am grateful for a great place to work. 

Living for the Weekends

Well, unfortunately the weekend is over.

But fortunately it was a great one.

And....I made a discovery. 

The reason my blog is full of furniture and nothing else is because I absolutely positively cannot in any way remember to take pictures of ANYTHING. (besides furniture....and only sometimes)

So I will use my most vivid adjectives to describe the highlights of this weekend.

Super crappy garage sales on Saturday. I guess the season is coming to an end :( which is ever so depressing.

BUT made up completely with free Chick-fil-a breakfast.

Time with the handsome hubby just hanging out. 

Saturday night hang outs at the bro and sis in laws to watch the game(s).

Sunday morning nerves because of our speaking assignments for sacrament meeting. 

The relief of being done speaking in sacrament meeting.

Bestie mission farewell. Absolutely fab--although maybe the least reverent mtg of my life.

High School Reunion at Shawnee's house. Super fun. Love those Silverwolves.

Wrapped up with Sunday night dinner at the parents.

Loved the weekend. Love our family. Love the ward. And love seeing all of Fremont High School. 

I did manage to snag one picture. 

I sure love these girlies. 

And of course, I'll post the most recent project. We did these a few weeks ago but I forgot to post them.

Yet Another...

You guessed it. Another project. 

Sorry our life is so boring. 

Anyway, I've been looking for a long time for something to put under the TV. We finally found something on Saturday morning at a garage sale that was pretty much exactly what I had in mind. :) Gotta love that. 

So here it is..

These are the drawers, I had already started taking them out when I remembered I needed a before picture, so sorry about that. 

And Wahla! (how do you even spell that word???) Here is the finished product.

The glaze is a bit light, I might go over it one more time, but I just loved the way the drawers are all the same size and the detail on them. It turned out just perfect. (Except for those dumb cords gr...too bad we have to pay at least $100 to get rid of them)

So that's that.

I love Sat morning garage sales. I'm going to be so sad when the warmth leaves and so do the garage sales. :( 

Random but Happy!

Well today is August 23rd. I can't even believe the summer is almost coming to an end. It makes me so sad! But excited for Christmas of course. I sure love that time of year. And our anniversary. And Thanksgiving. And Halloween. Okay so maybe the end of summer won't be too sad after all. We have lots to look forward to. 

We don't have much new to report. We love our new neighborhood and ward. It's been so fun getting to see all the good examples of parents and families in our ward. Mike was called to the young mens. (big surprise) and I get to spend my Sundays with 20 little 2 year olds!! haha They are all super cute and it's been really fun. Quite the change though. I'm gonna have to say that teaching 17 2-year-olds is not an easy task. I always thought that nursery is all about babysitting and snack time, but we have some great nursery leaders in our ward who really try to make sure to get a good lesson in. Last week, I was asked to teach and I'm gonna say that I maybe got 5 words in and they started screaming and chasing each other around the room. 

The lesson was on "I will say I'm sorry." I kept asking this cute little boy, "Okay so when do we say I'm sorry?"

He kept replying, "I'm sorry."(probably like 3 times and I kept repeating the question)

Me: "But do you know WHEN we say I'm sorry?"

Him: "I'M SORRY!!!!" with a pouty face so frustrated with me. 

haha I think he thought I was implying that he needed to apologize. 

As you can see, it's a pretty good time.

Mike has been working a ton at the hospital, so I was pretty much on my own for most of the weekend. So I re-did this table. 

And surprise! I forgot to take a before picture. 

I'm pretty sad I did because this thing was pretty hideous. It was a really bright orangish wood color and was scratched up like crazy. I did get a pic of the chairs, but it's on my other camera so I will add that soon.

But here is the result!!!

Oh and by the way, I didn't do the whole thing this weekend. Mike had been staining the top one layer at a time all week and he had painted most of the chairs too. I just did the antiquing and put the seat covers on. 

But it's been a really fun project! One more thing to check off my list! 

And the best part is that we bought the whole table for $50 (with 6 chairs..there's only 4 out though) and we sold ours for a lot more than that!! So we actually made a little cash and got a table I like much better. 

Oh and one more thing!

(yeah, sorry boys she's off the market for a few years....wait, do guys even look at blogs?...)

Five random things I love about her:

1. She has peed her pants more than any person I've ever known from laughing too hard.

2. She is always up for anything as long as it's fun.

3. One time in high school on the way to wendy's (for lunch of course) she came up with this idea (from a magazine) that we all had different roles in our group of friends and she self proclaimed that she was the one "who was supposed to be born a boy, but was born a girl."hahaha (I just had to put that in because I remembered it just barely)

4. Her mom. Seriously, anyone who has met her mom has to agree! So funny, love her.

5. Her loyalty to her friends. She's such a great friend and I just know I can always count on her to make me smile or help with anything I need.

(okay just one more..sorry)

6.   Her love for the gospel. She has always  been one to share the gospel with those around her and talk about how much she loves the church. I remember when I was baptized, she was so sincere about how excited she was for me. Her joy in the gospel will spread to so many other people. I'm just so excited for the people she teaches!

Anyway, this pretty little gal is going to be leaving on a mission in a few weeks. 

SO....I think she deserves a proper goodbye.

My Casa!

We are gonna have a little get together to celebrate her and the new adventure she is going on! Everyone can come over whenever really, but let's say 7:00pm and we'll have a little BBQ with some different treats. So bring your own meat and maybe a side to share. (Definitely not required) Invite whoever! We love to see faces we miss!

Lions!!

So remember this dresser?

It's named Lion because it has these weird little lions on the sides of the top drawer. It's not very cute...haha but I didn't think it would be easy to get those things off so I am leaving them. Every time Mike and I would talk about the dresser, we always referred to it as "lion" because of those weird little heads. 

Even though it has those weird heads, it still turned out pretty well. 

It's probably my favorite. I know I say that every time but I'm serious. This one was awesome.

I'm really not very good at taking "during the process pictures" so you'll have to deal with my before and afters. 

This project was really nice because it didn't take much time or effort, and I was kind of winging it with the idea I had, but it turned out to be a success. 

Here were the supplies:

I basically just covered the top while I painted the drawers and the desk. I went through about 4 cans of Primer because I was going from such a dark color to white. Primer became my best friend.

This is the part where I suck doing the "during" pictures. Basically I covered the top and painted the bottom and then uncovered the top and did about 4 coats of stain with a black stain. It worked really well. I had never stained anything before so I was so glad. After I did the stain, I did a single coat of polyurithane which is practically the best thing ever and it made the top shine like crazy. 

And here is the end result in our bedroom!!! 

Oh and a few side notes:

I put a better end picture on the bench. It's still not the best, but you can see it here.

Also, I have some sad/happy news. We moved all our stuff in our house and regretfully, the twins just really don't match with the other yellow colors in our room. They are soooo cute but I'm a freak about matching so...I think we are going to sell them....(this makes me nervous because we've never sold any of our furnitire) sooooo...if anyone is possibly interested, please let me know. I don't know a price yet, or even if we will be able to find them a home, but we will see. You can look at them here. If anyone is interested, you can email me at kristin.b@aggiemail.usu.edu. Update Bench

 Well... our bench is done. :) 

I'm not gonna lie, this one was mostly my husband. He told me not to tell people that, but I have to give him the credit because I hardly worked on any of it. I just told him what ideas I had at times. 

Here are the cute legs. We spray painted the white. 

You can see the padding we used in this picture. Under the padding we used some backing from Lowes so that we could secure the fabric under there. 

We also decided to try something new on this one. 

We used buttons and did some tufting. We found a kit at Walmart for the buttons so they would match the fabric, and made about 15 little buttons. It wasn't too hard, but my fingers hurt by the third one. haha.

I don't have a good picture of it on here, but Mike measured it out and drilled holes through the backing and the top of the table in order to put the buttons on. He then threaded fishing wire through to secure the buttons and stapled it on the bottom.

Here is the finished product!!! It's a terrible picture so I will post a new one on here shortly! Good job to my sweet Mikey!! I'm excited to put it in our room!

Maybe I will promise yet another better picture...haha these are pretty bad. Taken with my phone at night. Sorry about that.

Table Turned Bench

So I'm kind of really excited about this project. 

Because I don't have any clue what I'm doing. If it works out how my mind is working it out though it is going to be fabulous!! 

So meet this awful coffee table. Got this beauty for $15 at a garage sale. My husband has this fetish with the bench that sits at the end of beds. So when I saw this, I had the perfect plan for it. 

The lady who sold it to us made this huge deal about the top being "real leather." I couldn't bring myself to tell her that I was actually going to be sawing holes through that "real leather" or that I thought it was awful and I would be covering it immediately. haha but she was sweet and we got this little treasure packed up in the car. 

The legs are my favorite!!

I'm thinking white with the top padding with this fabric...

We'll see how it goes!! 

First Oops....

Well, we've got sort of bad news. 

Remember this?

Well Mike fixed the bottom up real nice. He added some trim, and sanded everything down.

...painted her up a bit....

We also added a backing to the top, so that it would show through in the back.

And so excited to get the two together. It was going to be such a happy reunion!!

Until they came together....

and they didn't match.

Don't say, "oh you can't even notice" or "you can't tell unless you look close." I can notice. And I'm a freak about matching. 

And they really don't match.

Exact same spray paint too...I was so confused. 

Well here is what happened. 

My sweet husband decided to help me, (because he basically does with every project) and he didn't know I used a primer on the top. So he didn't use one on the bottom. (He says he asked me and I said no, but I have to recollection of that conversation...) So...bottom line is that they don't match. And I really don't want to do it over again...

So I may just use the bottom for something else and find a new partner for the top. :) 

We will see.

But hey at least we know what the difference is between priming something and not priming it...
